Honey as we know has great health benefits in contributing to a much healthier life that we all desire to have.  Honey is not just a great spread for our toast, or a springle on top of our natural yogurt with chopped fruits, yes guys, honey has great properties for our hair.

How many of you know how great honey is for our natural hair growth?  Honey is an emollient, emollient helps to soften and smooth the hair, honey has natural antioxidants which helps to make your scalp healthy and helps to stimulate hair growth.  Does this sound great guys!!

Honey acts as an humectant that attracts moisture to your hair, so with the added benefits of vitamins and minerals that honey has it has healing properties that can help to prevent our scalp from having infections, It helps to keep our scalp clean and free from bacteria.  For those of you that suffer from dandruff and itchy scalp, honey will help too keep this at bay.

Benefits of Honey


* Honey acts as an humectant with the sugar levels that are found in honey helps to keep the moisture in your hair

* Honey acts as an emollient which helps to soomth and soften the hair, with properties of humectant and an emollient it makes a great moisturiser and conditioner.

* Honey has vitamins and antibacterial properties that helps to heal our scalp and to keep bactria at bay

*  It can be used as a conditioner by mixing either Coconut Oil with honey or Olive Oil and or apple cider vinegar.

* If you have dull or dry hair, honey can provide shine and help to retain moisture.

* Honey is a natural lightner to add gently highlights and to help lift your hair colour

* Honey also clarfies the hair as well as conditions your hair leaving a really nice and shiny smooth look


Conditioners using Honey


I have listed some recipies that you can use with honey to make hour tresses healthy, soft and smooth.

Coconut Oil and Honey

* Mix 1 tbsp of honey
* Mix 2 tbsp of Coconut Oil

Mix both mixtures together, slightly warm not too hot, then apply mixture to your hair, leave the mixture in your hair for 15-20 minutes, then rinse out!

* Using Cocnut Oil with Honey helps with moisture it provides more shine and a much lighter oil to use as well.  Coconut Oil helps to stimulate hair growth it gets into the hairs follicles, it moisturises dry hair, adds luster and shine and softness to the hair.  Coconut Oil prevents hair breakage and prevents split ends.

Olive Oil and Honey

* Mix 1 tbsp of Honey
* Mix 2 tbsp of Olive Oil

Mix both together and warm slightly if your prefer, remember do not warm too much to burn your scalp, apply the mixture and allow to marinade for 15-20 minutes, then rinse.

* The combination of these two ingredients helps to promote healthy scalp, it helps to coat and smooth dry damaged hair. Olive Oil can help to prevent hair loss. it moisturises the scalp it makes your hair soft and shiny, Olive Oil has antibacterial properties and antifungal properties that fight off common scalp and hair problems such as head lice and dandruff.

Honey with Apple Cider Vinegar 

* Mix 1/2 tbsp with Honey
* 10 drops of Apple Cider Vinegar

Mix both together and apply to damp hair and allow to sit for 15 minutes, then rinse out

* Apple Cider Vinegar helps to aid shine and can function as a hair conditioner it improves the porosity of  your hair by sealing the hair cuticle, which in return will help you to maintain more moisture.  It cleanses the hair by removing product build up without stripping the hair of its natural oils.  It treats dry itchy scalp with its antibacterial and antifungal properties.

Tips when using Honey

One 


It is best to use raw honey like Manuka which you can purchase from Amazon or Holland and Barratts.

Two


Honey can be used in your shampoo and coonditioner if you do not prefer to make your own mixture

Three


If you have limp and thin hair it is best to avoid using Olive Oil mixed wirh the honey as this will make your hair greasier and heavy feeling.

Four


You only need to use a little honey in your mixture, a little goes a long way

* REMEMBER IF YOU ARE WARIMING THE HONEY AND THE OILS DO NOT MAKE THE MIXTURE TOO HOT!!

  1. After reading your post I tried the honey and coconut oil mix. Luckily I had some manuka honey at home! I left it on for 30mins and after washing it off my hair was very silky smooth. I air dryer my hair to 95% and med/cool blow dry ed it. When I did my hair felt amazing!!!!!!!!
