I get it, It is really hard to find time for yourself, and it seems more difficult when you have children who cry for your attention on demand, but for most, the older we get the harder and more tried we get from our hard grind from the week, if the London Transport hasn't taken majority of your energy, then your stress levels of depending on these constantly delayed services will definitely wear you out.
I have learnt that despite all of that I need to make time for me, it's a time where I can relax, reflect and do the things that my body needs and what makes me feel human again.
While I do not have the luxury of spa trips like many, I need to at least schedule in self-care time into my daily crazy busy routine, so I thought I should share some of my tips with you all today!
Take Regular Breaks
I know it can be really hard to take regular breaks especially when you are crazy busy in dealing with important cases or issues. I know that I can easily get focused on the things I love doing and creating for my brand, so most times I cannot be bothered to take breaks to eat and drink, however, I had to be realistic with myself and create set times throughout the day to take regular breaks, trust me my body and mind thanked me for it. I do find that taking a break away allows your mind to relax and to recuperate, the last thing you want to do is burn yourself out at the start of the day.
If you are parents and have young one's constantly calling for you, and only you, to do things for them, even when there is more than one person that lives in your house, I find that shower time is my escape, my place and space to shut myself away for a good couple of minutes. I love a shower and I like to pamper myself while I am in there too.
I love to use the" Rituals Himalaya Salt Scrub" to get rid of dead skin and to prep my skin for the use of "The Ritual Sakura Body Cream", these have helped to keep my skin really soft, hydrated and ready for the Spring- Summer Season coming.
Yes I said it, treat yourself to something really nice and sweet, It makes the rest of your self-care routine complete, I like to indulge in the Alpro Hazelnut Chocolate Ice Cream, this is a plant based ice cream with less sugar and less saturated fats for 100ml it's 120 calories, I have this every now and then, but you can have whatever your hearts desire.
Work It Baby
I love a workout no matter how hard and tough it can be, it has become a part of my early morning routine, I wake up at 6 am every day but the weekends I start my workout an hour later than my usual weekday. I do a video for 1 hour some days or 30 minutes other days it depends on how I feel that morning, but for sure I know that I need to do some form of exercise otherwise it will not seem normal for me. Walking is just as good as a video or running, but whatever you do just make sure that you are working out at least 3-4 days a week, I chose to workout 7 days a week. Do have a routine in place to schedule in your workouts, that way it will motivate you to be consistent and you will feel great too.
Switch Off Unplug
I now that is a hard task for us, we love our phones and feel lost without it. I find it hard but I realise that If I do not switch off or move away from any electrical devices, then housework, important chores and the task will not get done. When you have children I need to make sure that I have time scheduled in to help then with their learning every day, it will benefit then in the long run and I enjoy engaging with my children in educational things, in creating things and activities too. I know, I get it, you may feel like your missing out on something, but there is more to life than social media, and your electrical devices, books are a great tool to have, feed your mind with knowledge, you can never have too much knowledge.
Self-care is about you and doing the things you want to do to take care of yourself, a time to relax so make great use of this time as you will be surprised how quickly it can go.
Seek New Things To Do
I don't know about you but I love to try new things, to create new things and look around for inspiration things that will inspire me to be more creative. Find that one thing that will make you happy, seek the things that you will enjoy doing, you will be surprised at what great things you can achieve in doing so. Many will say that I am a forward thinker, I like to think of new things or new ways of creating something that will work, or be beneficial for others, I get excited when I am socialising in groups and speaking with others about things that interest me. Find that happiness in the things you want to do and do it!
Every day your breathing and can wake up to see the beautiful light of day, is a day that you need to show some form of gratitude. I don't know about you but when I can wake up with a song on my mind or to take a time to myself and God to give thanks my day seems a whole lot better and set up to be awesome.
